2003 GRANT ROUND

Nearly $35,000 was awarded to 15 teachers for projects that provide educational experience for hundreds of students in the Lake Pend Oreille School District.

1. DECA Field Trips - Sandpoint High School - Jeff Green - $1600

Money to assist with the cost of field trips to businesses, contests, and leadership conferences.

2. Microscopes - Northside Elementary - Jayne McMillan Strum - $1510

To fund the purchase of 4 dissecting microscopes and covers.

3. Challenge Master Kit - Farmin–Stidwell Elementary - Pam Lippi - $5084

To fund the purchase of one Challenge Master Kit that will be used for TEAM building activities.

4. Orff Musical Instruments - Farmin-Stidwell Elementary - Tamara Belzer Gunter - $2,425

To fund the purchase of musical instruments and supplies that will enhance and extend the music curriculum

5. Wind Chimes - Sandpoint Middle School - Patrick Lynch - $2030

To fund the purchase of aluminum pipe stock for students to construct individual chimes and sell 30 locally.

6. Academic Decathlon - Sandpoint High School - Mary Bird - $2000

For Academic Decathlon curriculum materials, competition expenses, and scholarships.

7. Wind Tunnel - Clark Fork High School - Chris Rinehart - $2000

For the purchase of a wind tunnel for the new Technology program at the High school and Middle school.

8. Water Testing - Sandpoint High School - Ann Gehring - $2,280

For the purchase of water quality testing equipment and a computer.

9. Plato Licenses - Bonner County Juvenile Detention Center - Christopher Owen - $600

For the purchase of two PLATO Internet licenses that would provide a computer-oriented education program.

10. Literacy Center - Pend Oreille High School - Mona Stafford - $5000

For the formation of a school library.

11. Reading Take Home Program - Washington Elementary - Joyce DeLaVergne - $2000

For the purchase of a reading take-home program for primary students (K-3).

12. Human Brain Curriculum - Sandpoint, Middle School - Erin Roos - $3500

For the purchase of supplies needed to provide a human brain unit to the 7^th graders.

13. Multicultural Program - Sandpoint Middle School - Karen Remsen - $1000

For purchase of material needed to provide a multicultural unit.

14. Accelerated Math - Sandpoint High School - Nancy Gregory - $3100

For the purchase of an accelerated math software program.

15. Chemistry and Physics Curriculum - Sandpoint High School - Woody Aunan - $800

For the purchase of software and supplies for a web based curriculum.
